I'm down 1 lb this week. Awesome! Even better than that, I am now at a healthy BMI. I'm never going back to overweight. Woohoo! But, I do want to lose a bit more. I'm glad I managed to lose weight even with labor day weekend this week and the barbecues that went with it. I'm getting better at eating healthy foods at events like that, and allowing myself to really enjoy a reasonable amount of junk food (without going over my calorie limit). This week was definitely a success!

I got plenty of exercise this week too. Two tennis matches, two ballet classes, two days of lifting, and 1 swim. Just 11.4 lbs down, and I'm already feeling better, faster, and stronger. It's fantastic. I do need to kick up my swimming a bit. September's goal is to swim at least 10 miles. So, I need to swim more often or make my weekly swim longer (~3 miles). I'm off to the pool now. I'm planning a 2 mile swim, so I'm getting closer to my 10 mile goal.

Happy Saturday Everyone! Enjoy the weekend!

Are you meeting your September goals? Do you need to make any adjustments so you can reach them?

Week 5 Weigh In

Lost This Week= 2.2 lbs

Wow! I'm 2.2 lbs down this week. I have to say I wasn't expecting that. I had a lot of long early morning meetings this week, which means unlimited free doughnuts and cookies. And, while I stayed under my daily calorie limit every day- this week included 7 doughnuts and 6 cookies. I definitely got more sugar than I needed, but I did make sure to get at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies every day, so I guess I didn't do much harm. On the plus side, I am now only 0.1lbs away from a healthy BMI. So, hopefully I'll reach that next week. Awesome!

Exercise wasn't great this week either. I played 3 tennis matches, and went to 1 zumba class. I was planning to get more swims in this week, but it didn't happen. I've been spending so much time watching Olympic swimming, I didn't have time to make it to the pool myself (ironic?). I need to step it up this week. And, my women's weight training program is starting, so it shouldn't be hard. Weight lifting, here I come!

Woohoo! This week was a good one. I lost one pound, but even better I can now wear my belt 2 notches tighter. Proof that I'm losing some belly fat. That's exactly what I want. Here's to hoping I can keep it up. Only 2.3 pounds left until I reach a healthy BMI (not overweight). Hopefully, I'll be at a healthy weight by the end of August.

I got a decent amount of exercise this week as well: 4 tennis matches and 1 ballet class. With the wonderful summer weather I've been playing a lot of tennis (which is great), but my swimming has been getting left out. Summer should be the best time for swimming, but unfortunately I don't have access to an outdoor pool. Regardless, I'm going to try to get some more swims in, so I don't start to lose my endurance.

Body Weight Simulator

Check out this body weight simulator. It's a really neat weight loss model. Enter your height, weight, age gender and activity level get all kinds of information. Put in a weight goal it will show you how many calories you need to eat per day to reach your goal. It also gives you your predicted daily weight and body fat, so you can see how it will change over time.

How will changes in exercise or diet alter the speed of your weights loss? A feature let's you do just that. And, it can be set it to make immediate or gradual changes. The results of the simulation are presented in a table and in interactive graphs.

For those of you who are more scientifically minded. Here are two papers describing the mathematical model used in the simulator.
Quantification of the effect of energy imbalance on bodyweight
Dynamic mathematical model of body weight change in adults

*Note: I am in no way affiliated with this simulator. I just think it's really cool!
